PUBLIC CLASSES :
Monday evenings – HATHA YOGA – 18.00-19.00 – open level at Evolve Wellness Centre (10 Kendrick Mews, South Kensington, SW7)
In this Hatha yoga class, we explore playfully a combination of slow flow, creative movements, poses with pause, with conscious breathing and plenty of mindfulness. We all come with different bodies and degrees of flexibility, so variations will be given to suit all levels from beginners to more experienced practitioners. The class has a strong emphasis on energetic sequencing, postural alignment, stabilizing and strengthening. We work on a different theme every week, using techniques inspired from the Hatha Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda Traditions.
Ultimately, the aim of Yoga is to bring your body to a place of stillness, well-being, and clarity of mind. So, the class is designed to help you release tension, build strength, stability, and connect to your quiet centre. You can expect to leave this class feeling rejuvenated and more inspired for the week ahead.
Monday evenings – YIN YOGA – 19.15-20.30 – open level at Evolve Wellness Centre (10 Kendrick Mews, South Kensington, SW7)
For thousands of years, Yoga and Chinese medicine have postulated the belief that physical existence is animated by a dynamic energy system. The meridians or nadis are pathways through which the life-energy flows. This primordial energy called Chi (in Chinese medicine) or Prana (in the Yogic tradition) is the vital force in all life. The practice of Yin Yoga helps dissolve blockages and stimulate the energy flow through the meridians. It is a nurturing practice , designed to release deep seated tension. In Yin Yoga, the asanas (postures) are held longer to affect the deeper layers of the body , cultivate spaciousness and ease in the body and in the mind. You can expect to leave this class with a great sense of calm and space within you.
Tuesday evenings – RESTORATIVE YOGA – 18.00-19.15 – open level at Evolve Wellness Centre (10 Kendrick Mews, South Kensington, SW7)
Restorative Yoga is a slow-paced class suitable for all levels (beginners welcome), to soothe the body and mind from stress and tension. Ideal for those of you who have a busy life and need to recharge their battery. The practice will include gentle restorative Asana, mindful breathing and deep relaxation to help you connect to your quiet centre, build reservoirs of energy, and feel nurtured from the inside. We will use props (blocks, bricks, belts, blankets and bolsters) to support the body and allow it to open safely. We will work on a different theme/focus every week.
